I'm just making a USB dock, none of that fancy audio out stuff yet and was wondering if I could wire a female USB-B connector in, instead of a male connect. This sounds crazy, but I am holding the believe that this change will eff with the cable, please tell me I'm wrong.
I am embedding a dock connector and a USB plug in a cube of concrete as a winter project since I have no life, and thought that this provides me more flexibility since I'm not limited to the length of the default cable.
One more thing, if I'm solely making a USB cable (which I can use the AC adapter to charge the phone), does that mean I just have to connect the USB portions on the connector? (Pins 16, 23, 25, 27)
