I've been doing some testing of the NewClassD Ultimate Edition opamps today, using the ROHM DAC module. In comparison to the SS3602s, the NewClassDs add more depth and body without overpowering any frequency. Stage is wider and deeper, although still lacking a little height. Instrument separation and vocal layering is excellent (e.g. backing vocals on Dreams by Fleetwood Mac). I haven't compared to the SS2590s or V7Cs yet and am out of time today, but the NewClassDs are worth a try if you can find them.

I will add that I'm finding the ROHM DAC needs a fair amount of burn-in time. Also, the FIR2 filter is much nicer than FIR1. I don't know what each does, but I prefer the former!

FIR1 and FIR2 is just sharp rolloff and slow roll off filter.

Cool, thank you. I couldn't find any info on the filters so that's very helpful.

Please, would anyone care to describe the signature differences between the ESS and the ROHM DAC modules on the XD05Pro?

(I just read only the last 40 pages... )

Tks
I feel the ROHM have more forward and fuller mids with a little compromise on the details compared to ESS. I mostly listen to female vocals and ROHM sounds nicer to me.
I just installed Ufeel buffers on my HA8802 op-amps, feel it's even better! HA8802 already had that tube sound which I love and now the Ufeel buffers made it even more forward and thicker in the mids. I'm still letting it burn in but initial impressions are good!
Ps the HA8802 riser must take out otherwise it's too tall cannot be installed.

For me using ROHM DAC with Trullis HA8802 + Ufeel MK8 buffer, I prefer Filter 1.

I just noticed that sitting on top of the UFEEL MK9 is a soldered on MK8

I tried using the iFi Power X 12 Volt with a DC to USB C adapter, and compared to a phone charger, it did not lower the noise floor or change the sound quality (at least to my ears).

Has anyone tried connecting the XD05 Pro to another DAC or Amp to see if it has any effect on noise floor? I'm also wondering if changing dac chips from ESS to AKM would have a noticeable effect on noise floor.

Don't have any issue on noise floor be it ESS or ROHM.

Using both van charger / 12v charger. AI have no problem with ground noise
